The State Fair is weeks away, so in the meantime you will need to feast on chess. Considering that the great Minnesota Get Together makes your bank account disappear faster than king crab legs at a buffet station, you are likely looking for a no cost option for your kids for quality chess instruction. If that is true, get in line for the Shining Pawns Chess Camp next week, August 5-9, an appetizer that feeds like a meal. Check out this camp as they are providing for free.
For your main courses, you may be familiar with the School Chess Association and Twin Cities Chess Club, long held intuitions in Minnesota chess. They will be serving their offerings as the summer winds down. There are only two weeks of camp remaining for the SCA, and TCCC will have theirs Aug 19-23.
Who here cannot resist desert, and who wouldn’t seize an opportunity to take a Chess Course online that could count for an elective credit for High School? Matthew Henderson of Andover High School has created a syllabus that allows you to explore the beauty of chess beyond tactics and tournaments. As always, check out below for more information about the universal get together that is chess. This has been your Look Into August, 2024. Thank you for your time (and appetite).
