A chess player sees the board like a painter sees a blank canvas or a sculptor sees a lump of clay. Over one thousand artists will create a masterpiece this weekend at the Middle School Nationals this weekend in Atlanta, GA. Best of luck to the Minnesotans competing this weekend.
Memorial Day weekend means more than ushering in Summer to the chess minded. The Chicago Open has become one most well known events that the Continental Chess Association has put on, and also one that brings a good showing from Minnesota. Registration can be found on Online CC
The School Chess Association concluded their season last Saturday, so that leaves one weekend left to Van Gogh and do something. Since we cannot travel back in time, and Georgia or Illinois could be considered too much of a venture for you, perhaps St Cloud is more to your palette? The MSCA will host the Saint Cloud Open on May 18-19th for the second year in a row. Registration for this can also be found on Online CC
Still too far? Do you also want to enjoy this beautiful May weather like me, see some happy trees the way Bob Ross intended, and have time for events such as Art A Whirl or one of the many other places to spend your quality time…If a one day Scholastic is what you are looking for, then there are options for you. That’s right, scholastic chess is coming to Lakeville on Saturday, May 18th. The inaugural All Saints Scholastic will have team and individual awards, open to those from K-8th grade. Find the link below for details. This has been your Look Into May, 2024. Thank you for your time.
