Rochester Chess

The Rochester Chess Club was established prior to 1950 but there is no written record. It is unclear if the RCC helped organize the 1958 US Chess Open which was held at the IBM facility in Rochester, MN: http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chesscollection?cid=1021927

RCC meets weekly with the Mayo Clinic Chess Club, which provides space for RCC to share. Members range in age from 6 to 93 years old. Approximately half are scholastic chess players.

In 2014, RCC entered a fiscal agent agreement with the Rochester Area Foundation (RAF) to allow donors to support youth outreach activities. In April, 2018, RCC became a federal 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization.
