I Think you Should Chess

MNchess.org—

Perk up everyone, you have officially made it through Pumpkin Spice Latte Week.  Before you know it, you will start seeing Zucchini Bread Mochas as a winter offering but those of a sounder mind will squash those thoughts immediately.

We begin the grind for chess, from your French Press to the French Defense.  The Gopher Open has extended the early entry through September 7th.  Yes, you are seeing that correctly…we are aware of IM Sammy Narayanan brewing up magic on the chessboard with notes of checkory and awesome, but next weekend, he will be head roaster for this wonderful fall event.

In need of a double shot? Following that are two events outside of MN which hold regional and national value.  The Governors Cup in Sioux Falls will take place on Sept 19th-21th with GM Islik Can committed to play.  IM Narayanan will also be competing.  Council Bluffs Iowa will be the site of the National G30 and Game 60 Championships, and there is still time to register at the early drip.

Feeling jittery about the drive and looking for something local?  What if I told you that another titled player is taking on the role of Lead Barista and serving up a rated event with no entry fee?  National Master Andrew Titus has been directing for some time and  hosting something at Plymouth Library geared towards players under U1200.  You are more than welcome to signup if you are well above this threshold…but please check with him to accommodate your half-caf double cream, extra soy, 55 pumps, 55 ice cubes Venti espresso request.  There is plenty to look forward to through the end of the year.  This has been your Blind Chess Copy for Sept 2025, thank you for your time.
