“A great sense of humor! Pat made me want to go out and start playing chess again.” J. Weggman

Ain’t it funny how the knight moves? Join us for an insightful, inspiring and entertaining look at the game of chess! Storyteller, comedian, speaker and chess advocate Pat LaVone takes center stage at the Mraz Center for the Performing Arts in Burnsville on Saturday, November 2nd at 7:30 pm, where he’ll share some hilarious insights as well as many of the amazing benefits you receive when you play and practice chess.

If you’ve ever been involved in scholastic chess – as a player, parent, sponsor or administrator and thought to yourself – this is an activity that’s underappreciated… you’re right! And this is the show for you! Whether you’re a chess enthusiast (especially chess parents!) or just looking for a great night out, this is it: fun, funny, inspiring, and insightful. Plus, a portion of the proceeds go to the Nicollet Knights Chess Club and other local chess organizations. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to delve beyond what you’ve seen on the immensely popular Netflix series.

Comedian Mary Jo Pehl (Emmy-nominated Mystery Science Theater 3000) opens the show.

Pat’s performing career includes dozens of standup comedy and storytelling performances over three decades, including The Funny Bone Comedy Club, the Comedy Cabaret, Laugh Camp (Camp Bar), The House of Comedy, Comedy Corner Underground, The Parkway Theater, The Landmark Center Theater, Strike Theater, The Phoenix Theater, Dudley Riggs ETC., as well as presentations for the Minnesota Education Association and the Minnesota Community Education Association. This is a 16+ event not intended for children and includes some adult themes but no swearing or explicit sexual content. See you there!

Doors open at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7:30 pm. General seating – get there early for the best seats. Tickets $25 online through Eventbrite.
