A Look Into August 2018

For over three quarters of my life, I have been heavily involved in a game where the Queen is the most powerful piece on the board, so you will need to try much harder to emasculate me.  Am I a little afraid to face Nastassja Matus and Niki Ringel over the chessboard…there is a slight apprehension, yes.

In the past week, the MSCA had the honor of sending two females to represent Minnesota to a special invite-only (one per state) tournament during the US Open.  K-12 Champion Andrew Titus and MN Senior Champion Wilson Gibbins were the other two respective champions.  Nastassja was the MN K-8 Champion, and Niki was the MN Girls Champion.  Results can be found at the bottom.

The US Open also took place, with GM Andrew Tang in tie for 2nd place!  Click here for results.

For those that missed out on the US Open festivities and the long time controls, the Castle will not disappoint with the next two weekends of weekend tournaments.  This weekend will host a Dog Days Think, followed by a August Classic with a 2-day or 3-day schedule.  Check the Chess Castle for details.

As the academic year begins, the tournament schedule and other big events will also pick up a bit.  Stay tuned for more details and announcements.  This has been your Look Into August 2018.  Thank you for your time.
